Facebook Video Dimensions Guide 2026 (Feed, Reels, Stories)

Facebook video dimensions depend on where the video appears: traditional feed video uses 16:9 landscape at 1920x1080, while Reels use 9:16 vertical at 1080x1920. Since Meta merged its video and Reels systems in June 2025, vertical 9:16 has effectively become the default format across the whole platform, with landscape now reserved mostly for repurposed webinar, YouTube, or desktop-first content.
Feed video: 16:9 landscape
Traditional Facebook feed video works best at 1920x1080 pixels (16:9), with a practical minimum of 720x1280 for anything shot in lower resolution. Facebook accepts video up to 240 minutes long in the feed, and file sizes up to roughly 4GB.
Reels: 9:16 vertical
Facebook Reels use the same 1080x1920, 9:16 vertical format as Instagram Reels and TikTok. Since Meta's 2025 video and Reels merge, organic Facebook Reels have no length cap at all, the old 90 second limit only survives for paid Reels ad placements. That means an organic Reel can run as long as any other feed video, though 15 to 60 seconds still performs best for completion and reach.
One crop detail worth knowing: when a Reel surfaces in the regular Feed rather than the dedicated Reels tab, Facebook crops it to 4:5. Keep your most important visuals and text inside the center 1080x1350 zone so nothing important gets clipped in that crop.
Stories: 9:16 vertical
Facebook Stories share the same 1080x1920 spec as Reels but are a separate format with their own duration cap of up to 120 seconds per Meta's official requirements. Full details are in the Facebook Story dimensions guide.

| Stories | 1080x1920 | 9:16 | Up to 120 seconds |
Why the merge matters for planning content
Before June 2025, treating Reels and regular video as separate systems made sense: they had different length caps, different crops, and different discovery surfaces. Now that Meta runs them on shared infrastructure, the practical decision comes down to aspect ratio rather than format rules. If you are shooting new video, default to vertical 9:16 since it now covers Reels, Stories, and performs well in feed too. Reserve landscape 16:9 specifically for content you know will be watched on a larger screen, like a tutorial someone follows along with at a desk, or footage repurposed from a YouTube upload where re-shooting vertically is not practical.
Formatting once for multiple placements
Since Reels and Stories now share the same 9:16 spec, a single vertical export covers both, and only feed video needs a separate landscape version.
